Well, those two festival shows in Spain and in Belgium went fast! Here are some photos from Johnny Dee. (Click on the snapshots for the larger pics).
Hope to see you all again in September!
25th June 2017
Well it happened again! If you have noticed the absence of updates recently, I can only apologize and blame it on too much going on at home. I won't bore you with all the details, but suffice to say, I haven't been lounging on a beach somewhere, more's the pity. The last few months have been a maelstrom of re-modelling projects, both on my house and on one of our rentals, which was trashed by the last tenants, but was lovingly restored to its former glory by yours truly and then finally sold.
My latest project is building a water feature in our back yard, which on the face of it, might not sound like a huge deal, but when you add my wife Jo into the mix, it takes on a whole new dimension. I literally spent weeks experimenting with different pipes, spouts and scuppers, so that the final result wouldn't sound like "a bloke peeing in a bucket". You will be glad to know that I finally hit upon something that Jo liked, so it's full steam ahead. The design even incorporates a cast iron face of The Green Man, reproduced from one found at a pub of that name in Henley on Thames, so I will also have a bit of jolly old England gracing my Texas back yard.
Anyway, back to business. We, that is UFO, are about to embark on the first of three trips to the U.K. and Europe over the summer. These will involve several festivals and also some smaller gigs in England, Spain, Belgium, Holland and France. I am very excited about being in Europe again and look forward to seeing many of you at these shows; I hope you all have a great time, but I would also like to remind you that in light of recent events, please stay aware and vigilant, and if you see something, say something!
As many of you know, we were touring the U.S. earlier this year. It was a three-act package, featuring UFO, Saxon and Jared James Nichols. To say that the tour was successful would be an understatement, and I thank all of you who came out and supported us. We played to packed houses everywhere, and really had a blast. Thanks also to all the members and crew of JJN and Saxon for making the whole thing so enjoyable. Of course, I would be remiss if I didn't thank our guys, Eddie, Eric, Patrick, Drew, Scott and Freddie for all their hard work on the road, and also Peter, Dan and Kate for their behind the scenes support. In case you haven't heard, we enjoyed the experience so much that we will be taking to the road again in September, for a further three weeks in the U.S. So if you missed us first time around, here's your chance.
A final note, Jared James Nichols will be supporting us on a few U.K. shows, so I urge you to check them out, I guarantee that you won't be disappointed. I'll be seeing you all very soon. Stay safe and keep rocking.
